English Language Students’ Olympiad "Academic and Professional Business Language Skills. Challenge Cup 2011"

We are pleased to invite you to take part in the English Language Students’ Olympiad “Academic and Professional Business Language Skills. Challenge Cup 2011”. Junior and senior students specializing in economics and business, wishing to show their language competence as well as knowledge in the theory and practice of economics are welcome to participate in this event.



The Olympiad is held by the English Language Department of ENGECON.



The Olympiad will take place in Saint-Petersburg (103, Moskovsky pr.) on the 19th and 26th of March 2011.



The Olympiad working language is English.



The Olympiad Program:



19th of March

• 1st stage – written lexis and grammar test

• 2nd stage – listening (aural comprehension of a economics-related texts)

• 3rd stage – “Video battle” (contest of video episodes)



26th of March

• 4th stage* – writing (business correspondence, report, contract)

• 5th stage** – case study (with presentation to the Judging Panel)



Home task (optional)

1.Translation. Novel.

2.Translation. Poetry.

3.Fairy Tale. Interpretation in economic context.

Tasks will be sent on a request. Deadline is the15th of March.

It will be awarded with the special prize.
